The retired army personals (with minimum 15 years of experience in army) through Army Welfare Placement Organization (AWPO) are deployed for taking care of security of entire IIIT Kottayam, including external hostels. They have served many remote parts of the country and can speak many languages such as Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali etc. Thus apart from security and vigilance they take care of students from different states of India with variety of linguistic background.

A state of art, Gymnasium nourishes several enthusiasts to develop their fitness & sports activities. IIIT Kottayam has a well equipped gymnasium including Spinning Bike, Treadmill and Elliptical Cross Trainer. We also have Benches, Incline Chest, Seater Shoulder Press, Cable Cross Over, Straight Bar,Leg Curl/Leg Extension & Dumbells. Students can avail the facilities of gym with the proper guidance of Physical Trainer.

IIIT Kottayam is having 24/7 ATM facility in the premises.

IIIT-K students have access to round the clock medical facility. A fully equipped ambulance handles emergency cases. Medical facilities are given vital importance and each student is given complete care.

The campus is equipped with an internet bandwidth of 5 Gbps primary and 1 Gbps secondary lines (1:1). Internet connectivity is also extended to the boys' and girls' hostels through both wired and wireless connections. More than 250 access points are deployed throughout the campus to provide these services. LAN connectivity is also extended to all hostels on the campus. There are no restrictions on timing or limits for internet usage. All academic premises are covered with WiFi. The main buildings are connected with a 10 Gbps LAN backbone using multimode fiber media.

At present, there are 5 computer labs with 500 high-end systems and 20 workstations, all equipped with wired connectivity. More than 2,800 users (including staff and students) are connected to the institute network through proper authentication methods. Around 200 IP phones are installed at various locations inside and outside the campus to ensure easy communication. A 24x7 CCTV surveillance system is also operational on the campus for added security.

HPC Facility (Vidhya Vahini Lab)

The institute provides a GPU cluster and computing facility through the Vidya Vahini Lab for research-oriented activities.
